Betty Karpovich

Obituary of Betty Karpovich

Elizabeth "Betty"  Karpovich

(March 25, 1934 - May 1, 2024)

A loving heart stopped beating in the early morning hours of  Tuesday, May 1, 2024.

Betty, the oldest daughter of Michael and Mary Tulik, was born on the family farm north of Buchanan, Saskatchewan on March 25th, 1934.

Betty attended school in Saskatchewan prior to moving to Alberta. She travelled to Alberta with a friend, where they were hoping to become either a stewardess or a nurse. This is where she eventually met the love of her life, Gerald Karpovich in Wetaskiwin at a local dance. Betty and Gerry were married on July 2, 1958 and eventually settled in Daysland where they have made their home for the past 63 years.

She loved her family. Family meant everything to Betty, related or not, children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, or pets. All were loved and welcomed. She had many interests and passions, loved cooking, playing the violin, music, dancing, getting dressed up, camping, gardening, traveling, summer vacations, Hawaii, well there was not much that she did not like.

Betty passed away at the age of 90 years. She is survived by her husband of 65 years Gerald; four children Kevin (Iris), Elvin (Teresa), Beverly (John) and Wayne (Kim); five grandchildren Darcie, Dustin, Janiel, Lyndsey, and Luke; thirteen great-grandchildren; siblings Ernie (Elenor) Tulik and Jeanette (Alex) Pobran; brothers-in-law Chester Zawada and Michael Spelay; along with numerous relatives and friends. Betty was predeceased by her parents Michael and Mary Tulik; sisters Nancy (Laurent) LaPerle, Sonya Zawada, and Joyce Spelay; and brother Norman (Myrna) Tulik.

Betty was an amazing Wife, loving Mom, supportive Sister, generous Baba (Grandmother), energetic Great-Grandmother, Aunt, and Godmother.

She will be dearly missed and forever be in our hearts.
